If you own a Palm Pilot™ or Pocket PC™ handheld computer, the synchronization
software may cause communication problems with your digitizer.
As handheld computers increase their capabilities and popularity, more
estimators are using them as another business tool. We have noticed a slight
problem that is caused when the synchronization software is installed. If
communicating on the serial port like the digitizer does the HotSync™ software
for Palm Pilot's causes the serial port to only want to talk to the Palm Pilot
and not the digitizer. To correct this you must close the software while
attempting to use the digitizer. This can usually be done by right clicking on
the HotSync™ icon in the task bar by your clock and then clicking on exit. If
you are using the USB [Universal Serial Bus] port to communicate to your Palm
Pilot™ and are having problems. You may have to disable the HotSync™
software from using the serial or COM ports.
We haven't really noticed this problem with the ActiveSync™ software for
Pocket PC's at this time but if you experiencing similar problems, you may need
to define the correct COM port. If you are using the USB port you can also try
to disable the ActiveSync™ software from using the serial port for
communication.
