Why is my material pricing total on my Bill of Material more than at my bid recap?
When printing a Bill of Materials and extending it by material cost the total cost listed
does not match the material cost in the Bid Recap. The reason for this is that the Bid Recap is the exact
material needed according to the measurements in your takeoff. The Bill of Materials is a list of materials that
are to be ordered, since the materials to be ordered need to be rounded to the nearest 3 ft section of insulation
you will have some extra cost associated with this extra material. If you break it down by System, Area, or any other
sub-category, this extra cost will increase as it is rounding each of the sub-categories. If you want to
include this cost into your bid price you will either need to add it to you final bid price manually or
increase your margin or markup.
